Evidence for the Catverse Theory
- Ancient Egyptions warshiped cats. The earliest deity of ancient Egypt was the goddess Mafdet. She was usually depicted with the body of as human and the head of a lion.
- Cats love warm places to sleep. This is why Lekende created the stars, each sun is a warm place for him to rest as he travels around the universe.
- Cats love things to play with and chase, especially round objects. This is why Lekende created the planets, moons and asteroids. After Lekende has finished resting by the a sun, he will often give chase to a planet, sometimes destroying it in the process.
- Cats are gardians.
Cats represent the cat goddess Bastet or Bast, also know as Baset, Baast or Ubaste. The goddess while known as Bastet represents protection, family, music, love, joy and dance. Bast, her earlier form, was the goddess of Warfare. She is often confused with Skhmet, the lion goddess of Warfare and other related topics.
Cats may be seen as protectors of the underworld because Bastet is also the goddess of Protection against contagious diseases and evil spirits. For a short time she was also seen as the wife of Anubis the embalming God (who is often known as the “second in charge” in the underworld after Osiris). This may have been enough to connect her with the underworld and the protection of it. Additionally, cats were embalmed with families or family members that died to serve their protective role even in death.
While Egyptians definitely worshipped cats the most of the ancient cultures, they were not alone.
In Norse mythology the Goddess Freyja of love, family, fertility, war, wealth, divination and magic had a giant chariot pulled by two giant grey cats (gifts from Thor). Villagers would leave gifts for these cats in order to convince Freyja to visit their town or home.
Ai-Apaec was a shapeshifting Peruvian god that could take the shape of a tomcat. He was often shown with cat-like features and is believed to be originated from a cat deity.
Li-Shou is a cat god that protects Chinese family's by scaring mice and other pests away from crops. This god was only worshipped by farming families.
In Poland Ovinnik was a protector who protected livestock and warded off evil spirits until the family stopped giving him gifts. At that time he would cause trouble and leave.
In Greece there was no specific cat goddess, but the goddess Hecate did take the form of a cat while escaping Typhon and then she became a sort of patron of cats.
The Welsh goddess Ceridwen of wisdom had her wishes carried out by a group of white cats, leading the people to be careful around cats as to not hinder the will of the goddess.
- Cats serve no one. Yes, cats are selfish and basically do whatever they want. This is because terrestrial cats were made in Lekende's image. Thus, in reality, humans exist to serve cats.
